This lesson shows the three levels of hardness in the Disciples’ hearts as recorded in Luke, chapter twenty-four. It emphasizes the third level — the kawbade — the heavy, slow part of the will. Jesus told the Disciples, “O fools, and slow of heart….”They had not believed the Written Word concerning the Crucified Christ.

Although this is a Mother’s Day message from Exodus 20:12, which tells us to “Honour thy father and thy mother,” it deals with our unconscious will — the kawbade part that has impressions solidified in it. The Hebrew word for honour is kawbade, which is the lowest level of our will. No matter what kind of parents we have, we need to respect them because they gave us life. Disrespect for one’s parents produces despair.

The 144,000 seen on Mount Zion with the Lamb, in Revelation 14:1, will have the Father’s Name written in their foreheads. We know that this Scripture is referring to Christ’s Bride because she is the only one who will have the LORD’s Name written in her forehead. This lesson shows how the LORD (Jehovah) reveals His Tetegrammaton Name. The LORD chose the weakest letters of the Hebrew alphabet to manifest His Tetragrammaton Name.

The second layer of hardness (khawzak) in the human will has a good side and a bad side. This lesson, which deals with the bad side, shows how King Saul missed it in First Samuel, chapters nine through fifteen. Saul had a good beginning in many ways, but he missed God in the end of his life because he refused to allow God’s Impressions to solidify in his khawzak will. He intruded into the Priests’ office, and in First Samuel 14:27, he “laid hold” (khawzak) of the skirt of Samuel’s mantle.

This lesson deals with the second layer of hardness (khawzak), both its good side and its bad side. The story of Gideon and his 300 men, in Judges, chapters seven, verse eight, illustrates the good side of hardness. Gideon retained (khawzak) his 300 men. In verse twenty, the 300 men blew their trumpets, broke their pitchers, and held (khawzak) their lamps in their left hands.

All three layers of hardness in our will have a good side and an evil side. The first layer of hardness, identified by the Hebrew word kaw-shaw, is the layer which is pliable enough to receive impressions. The second layer of hardness, khawzak, is like an iron basket in that it receives and holds the impressions that are fed to it from the kawshaw level of the will. The third layer of hardness, kawbade, is where Eternal imprints are made.

This message first deals with more about guilt and conviction and how God works on the three realms of our will. Our sin has “roots,” “branches,” and “fruit.” We confess the “fruit” — the "do,” but we need the Holy Ghost to show us the “root” — the “will.” God is the One Who works the “will” and the “do” in us. The lesson also gives more on the first level of hardness or kaw-shaw. Examples of the good side of the LORD’s Hard Hand are found in Exodus and in the Song of Solomon. We have inherited the “not” from man’s original sin in the Garden.

This message shows the difference between guilt and the Conviction one feels from God’s Holy Spirit. Guilt (aw-sham) means faults, offenses, sins, trespasses, and errors. In order to exonerate ourself from guilt, our self-deception makes wrathful accusations against others. Our diseased perception of reality, then, makes an apologetic confession, saying, “I did it, but I had a special set of circumstances.

First Samuel, Chapters five and six, shows how the LORD’s Hard (Kawshaw) Hand dealt with idolatry, even among the heathen. The Philistines captured the Ark of God and carried it back to their land and put it in the temple with their false god, Dagon. Dagon is a picture of perversion because this idol was fashioned into an unnatural joining of man, who was made in the Image of God, and a fish, which never was made in the Image of God.

This lesson deals with the three levels of hardness in the human will. Genesis, chapter thirty-five, gives an example of how God uses converted hardness. When Rachel travailed with hard (kaw-shaw) labour, she brought forth Benjamin. The tribe of Benjamin encamped on the west side of the Tabernacle, in the Head-realm of the Stature of Christ, under the insignia of an ox. Christ’s Ox Nature allows one to “plow” the fallow ground of one’s own heart and mind, as well as “plowing” in the minds of others, so that Living Seeds of Truth may take root and grow.
