WE ARE GOD’S WORKMANSHIP.....(SUN AM 8/09/2009)
Ephesians 2:8-10 says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them,” The Hebrew word for work-manship, mah-as-eh, means actions. It means work, good deeds, labor, skill. It means cunning, wise, a work. The word mah-as-eh comes from the root word aw-saw, which means to do, to finish, to complete, to dress.
We were foreordained unto good works. Back in keh-dem Eternity, God worked all of this out. He fore-ordained it. He fore-planned it, fore-purposed it, fore-prepared it, and we agreed to all of it in our spirit and soul. He agreed about this workmanship. and we said, “Yes, LORD, we will let You work and provide and do for us what You wish us to be.” He works in us; then, we walk.
There are different ways to walk. We can walk by habit. We can walk or drive mechanically, while talking on cell phones and looking and watching. But we cannot walk mechanically and get to the New City. The Hebrew word for walk means that we have a goal, and we are looking very carefully for every step that is going to be in congruence with our goal. We cannot say that we want to go to the New City and, then, go off headstrong in some other direction or turn around and go backwards.
