Quick Overview

(International Convention) Four miraculous crossings of Jordan are recorded in God’s Word. The first two crossings were made by Jacob, who went across with his staff or rod that had the LORD’s Name on it. It was God’s Purposive Will for Jacob to be the firstborn and to have the blessing of the birthright. The blessing in the Old Testament consisted of the firstborn being the king, the priest, and the prophet of the family. That was their inherited right. But when they were in the womb, Esau struggled with Jacob and pushed him out of the way, thus being born first.

COVERING THE LAND WITH OBEDIENT FOOTSTEPS.....(FRI PM 7/3/2009)
(International Convention) Four miraculous crossings of Jordan are recorded in God’s Word. The first two crossings were made by Jacob, who went across with his staff or rod that had the LORD’s Name on it. It was God’s Purposive Will for Jacob to be the firstborn and to have the blessing of the birthright. The blessing in the Old Testament consisted of the firstborn being the king, the priest, and the prophet of the family. That was their inherited right. But when they were in the womb, Esau struggled with Jacob and pushed him out of the way, thus being born first.

Before the twins were born, God had already told Rebekah, their mother, that the elder would serve the younger. Because Jacob walked by the wisdom of his mother, he was able to buy back the birthright from his brother and also to get the blessing of the birthright, which his father had planned to give to Esau.

Jacob was a man of faith and obedience when he walked across Jordan on his way to Mesopotamia and, later, when he again crossed Jordan on his way back to Canaan’s Land. The nation of Israel crossed Jordan on dry ground when they walked under the Ark of the Father’s Headship, which indicated that they were saying, “Father, we support Your Headship.”
