Quick Overview

This lesson continues with the Parable of the Sower where some Seed fell on stony ground (Matthew 13:3-9 and Matthew 14:18-23). Stony ground is shallow and without moisture, so the Seed withers away. This is what we do if we do not seek the moisture from the Selah Rock, which is a picture of the Risen Christ, the Divine Creator of our spiritual Water supply.

PARABLE OF THE SOWER — 4TH MESSAGE.....(SUN AM 8/30/98)

STONY GROUND

This lesson continues with the Parable of the Sower where some Seed fell on stony ground (Matthew13:3-9 and Matthew 14:18-23). Stony ground is shallow and without moisture, so the Seed withers away. This is what we do if we do not seek the moisture from the Selah Rock, which is a picture of the Risen Christ, the Divine Creator of our spiritual Water supply.

God sends the heat of trials, temptations, and tribulations to prove us, to see where we will seek comfort — from the creature or the Selah Rock. The Rock, Christ Jesus, is present in all our trials, so we only have to depend on Him in order to receive His Waters of Life that will bring us comfort from His Word, causing the Seeds of His Word to take root in our spiritual heart. Trials reveal the dry, parched emptiness of earthly relationships.

When we learn to run to the Rock in prayer, seeking His comforting Waters, we get weaned from the temporal “waters” of the creation.
