WHY NOT “EASTER.” PROMISE AND PERFORMANCE.....(SUN AM 4/12/98)
(Resurrection Sunday) This message shows why we do not use the word Easter to speak of the LORD’s Resurrection. Although, in the English translation, the word Easter appears in Acts 12:1-4, in Hebrew the word in this text is Passover. The Jews put the Name of Jesus Christ down by exalting the blood in creatures above the Creator’s Blood. Christian Gentiles later exalted the creature, the goddess Estarte, above the Resurrected Christ.
Eight times Jesus gave His Disciples the Promise of His Death, Burial, and Resurrection. On thirteen occasions, after He arose from the Dead, He showed Himself as the Performance. This message shows two of Jesus’ Promises and one of His Performances.
