QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS…..(FRI PM 2/2/96)
Two questions are answered:
(1) Please explain what is meant in Ecclesiastes 5:1, which says: “Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.” A wise man keeps his foot and lets it take him to the House of God where his ear can hear the Word of God. A fool may go to God’s House; however, his heart is not joined to his worship, so his sacrifice is not acceptable to God.
(2) “James 2:23 says that Abraham was a friend of God, and Exodus 33:11 says that God spoke to Moses as a man would speak to a friend. Please explain how I can become a friend of God.” If we want to be a friend of God, we have to get in the place, spiritually, that God can talk to us. A friend relationship is like a pair of scissors. Christ is one “Blade” of the “scissors, and the believer is the other blade. In order to maintain the close, intimate friend relationship with Jesus Christ, we must be willing to let Him cut away anything that comes between us and our relationship with Him.
