SEEK YE FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD.....(THU PM 6/4/98)
(Graduation Banquet) There are four thoughts contained in Matthew 6:33 which says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
1. The Hebrew word for but means to smite, to beat down, to take a rod, a stick, or our fist and push back anything that gets in between us and the LORD. It also has to do with horns.
2. We seek by having determination — the kind contained in the word but.
3. The Hebrew word for first comes from the same word that means head. What we must learn first is this: He is the Head.
4. The Hebrew word for add goes back to the same word from which the name Joseph comes. Joseph was added to Rachel. When we seek God first, God will add what we need, but it will be behind us — not in front of our face.
