PALMS - 1ST MESSAGE......(SUN AM 4/5/98)
(Palm Sunday) The Gospel of John, chapter twelve, says that palm branches were strewn upon the pathway as Jesus entered into Jerusalem. The date palm tree is a picture of the Crucified Christ and the Resurrected Christ. The bottom portion of the natural palm tree has no beauty. The roots underground and the rough roots on the outside of trunk represent the invisible and visible sufferings of the Crucified Christ. The top portion of the palm tree has six levels of branches, depicting the humility and exaltation of the Resurrected Christ. The dates in the top of the tree represent the fruitfulness of spiritual maturity.
Exodus, chapter fifteen, reveals the first point on the Stature of Truth about the Palm Tree. When the children of Israel came to Elim, they found twelve wells of water and seventy palm trees. A palm tree displays the LORD’s full Stature of Light, Life, and Love. The word seventy means a well. Other examples of the word seventy in Scripture include the following: Israel spent seventy years in captivity in Babylon. Daniel had a revelation of seventy prophetic weeks, consisting of seven years for each week or 490 years total. Jesus sent out seventy disciples.
