FOUR SPECIAL PLACES WHERE WE HAVE A RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN US AND THE LORD’S NAME - 2ND MESSAGE......(FRI PM 1/23/98)

Daniel’s experience in chapters five and six of the Book of Daniel furnishes the example of the second place where we prove whether or not we have a Oneness of Relationship with the LORD. Daniel had an excellent spirit, which means that he was overflowing and remaining. He also had excellent or overflowing Wisdom. Although Daniel was Jewish, he help high political positions in the courts of four Gentile kings: Nebuchadnezzar, Belshazzar, Darius, and Cyrus.

When Darius, the Median, overthrew Belshazzar, he exalted Daniel to the position of first president. The two other presidents and the 120 princes, all of whom had to answer to Daniel, became jealous of him. They could find no fault in his execution of his secular duties. However, they knew he faithfully prayed to the LORD God three times a day, before his windows which were opened toward Jerusalem. So, they set out to destroy him by persuading King Darius to sign a decree that forbade anyone to ask a petition of any God or man, except the king, for thirty days. Anyone who ignored this decree would be cast into the lions’ den. Even after Daniel knew the decree had been signed, he went directly to his room and kneeled down before the opened windows and prayed to the LORD.
