THE DOUBLE PEACE OF GOD.....(SUN PM 8/10/97)
(California Convention) This lesson is about the Double Peace of God. We have peace when we get saved, but there is a peace of God that passes understanding. Peace means contentment, quietness, stillness, and tranquility. Two times in John 20:19-21, Jesus said, “Peace be unto you.” The first peace is peace from having one’s guilt of sin lifted by the Son’s Sacrifice. The second peace is from God the Father. The type and shadow of these two classes of peace are found in the Sin Offering Blood in the Old Testament and in the Gratitude or Thanks Offering.
The fulfillment of the type and shadow of this Thanks Offering is found in Philippians 4:6,7. We have the Command to be careful for nothing; to pray; and to supplicate; then, we are promised peace that is so great we cannot comprehend it.
Revelation 4:11 tells us why we have been created — for God’s Pleasure!
