TEN CLASSES OF SCARS THAT JESUS BORE FOR MAN — 5TH MESSAGE.....(SUN AM 5/11/97)

(Mother’s Day) First Samuel 1:1-17. Elkanah had two wives. The only ministry of Peninnah, which means “provoker,” was to gouge or scar Hannah, whose name means “mercy.” Peninnah’s gouging or scars did not make Hannah retaliate; instead, she wept out of Love.

Peninnah had many children or seeds, and seeds speak of works. But, Hannah was Elkanah’s “love,” so she had a love relationship with her husband, and her child, Samuel, was born out of Love. Peninnah or the “Provoker” also carries the meaning of losing your memory of who your were; who you are; and where you came from. When you forget where you have come from, you are going to forget your Benefactor, as Israel did, and set up idols of change. Then, you will put up a barrier between you and God and move at a distance from Him.
