TEN TREES IN THE BOOK OF ISAIAH — TEILTREE.....(SUN AM 4/27/97)

This message deals with the teil tree, which is first tree mentioned in Isaiah 6:11-13. The teil tree fits with the First Commandment: “I am the LORD thy God.”

The teil tree, which is a citrus tree, and the oak tree differ from other trees in that they do not shed their leaves when the sap goes down in the tree in the winter time. Trees that shed their leaves in the winter are a picture of the Crucified Christ being stripped of His Glory and left to hang naked on the Cross. When God puts us in spiritual winter seasons, we think we are dead and will never live again. But, we are not dead. The spiritual winter season simply strips us of our outward glory so that we may know that God has all the Glory. However, the teil tree and the oak tree shed their leaves when the sap is up in the tree. There are glories of the world that we shed when the Resurrected Christ is moving, and we have a good witness inside us that the Resurrection Life that is coming up in us in worthy of all Glory. His Resurrection Power rising in us pushes out the earthly glory that we are hanging on to.
