QUESTION…..(SUN PM 8/18/96)

When an enemy was attacking, and when God asked Israel to attack the enemy, God commanded them to fight in various ways, including the following: when Israel went in to possess the Land, God commanded them to completely destroy all the “ites”. Other times they took a defensive posture, as when Nehemiah was building the wall. They worked, but they had their swords by their sides. Another time an escape tactic was used, as when Paul (Saul) was lowered down the city wall to get away from the enemy. The last example is Stephen, when he freely offered his life to be killed. Each of these examples had a different response. How will we know which reaction to take in any given situation is the question posed here.
