SONG OF SOLOMON - 2ND MESSAGE.....(FRI AM 7/19/96)
DRAW ME; HOPE DEFERRED; AND THE BRIDEGROOM’S BLACK, BUSHY LOCKS
(Holland Convention): This lesson continues with more teaching on the word draw, mawshak. The lamb (Exodus 12) was drawn out from the flock to become a sacrifice, thus saving the firstborn of the Israelites. The LORD “passed over” or hovered over the Israelites who had applied the lamb’s blood to the door posts and lintels of their houses. This was the Passover blood or Atonement blood which also is referred to in I John 1:7 in connection with being atonement with our brothers in Christ.
The Parable of the Vineyard is used as an example of our not having the right attitude toward God as our Judge. The reward of being in the Bride is not based on our works but on believing in God’s Headship. We have inherited the Blaming Principle from Adam the First. Christians can only have fellowship with one another if both parties have dealt with their wills. This lesson also deals with Proverbs 13 on having our hopes deferred.
Returning to the Song of Solomon, the lesson comments on verse four in chapter one. The upright are the ones whose Minds are up in the right position, with the Blesser Mind ruling. Scriptures in the Song of Solomon 1:5 and 5:10,11 are used to explain how the Bride gets her black colour. She is black as the Tents of Kedar and comely as the Curtains of Solomon. Christ’s Humility Headship is depicted by His black, bushy Locks, which are black because they have been burnt by His being so close to the Glory of the Father.
