Quick Overview

(Communion Service) Matthew 26:26-29: After Jesus had blessed the bread, He broke it and gave it to His Disciples, saying, “Take, eat; this is my body. ”Then, after He had given thanks for the cup, He gave it to His Disciples, saying, “Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” He did not say that the bread and the wine were symbols of His Body and His Blood. Nor did He say that the natural bread and wine were changed into His Physical Body and Blood.

Sermon 1448 - Broken Bread…..(Sun am 6/2/96)

(Communion Service) Matthew 26:26-29: After Jesus had blessed the bread, He broke it and gave it to His Disciples, saying, “Take, eat; this is my body. ”Then, after He had given thanks for the cup, He gave it to His Disciples, saying, “Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” He did not say that the bread and the wine were symbols of His Body and His Blood. Nor did He say that the natural bread and wine were changed into His Physical Body and Blood. At the last Passover Supper, Jesus, the Man, was still alive. His physical Body was whole, and His Blood was still in His veins. Yet, He could say “This is My Body, and this is My Blood” because in Him was the Divine Christ, the Living Word of God. And, Divinity cannot be limited to flesh. When Jesus, the Man, blessed the bread and the cup, the Divine Christ came out and rested upon the visible bread and wine. And, those who eat and drink, by faith, of the visible bread and wine on the Communion Table are eating of the Spiritual, Divine Body and Blood of the LORD Jesus Christ.
