Sermon 1434 - Guilt and Conviction - 1st Message…..(Wed pm 4/24/96)
This message shows the difference between guilt and the Conviction one feels from God’s Holy Spirit. Guilt (aw-sham) means faults, offenses, sins, trespasses, and errors. In order to exonerate ourself from guilt, our self-deception makes wrathful accusations against others. Our diseased perception of reality, then, makes an apologetic confession, saying, “I did it, but I had a special set of circumstances. I did it, but it was someone else’s fault.” Holy Ghost Conviction (yaw-kahh) means to confess, to correct it, to be right. Holy Ghost Conviction causes us to make a truthful confession that says, “I did it; I am guilty, and I am truly sorry.” Holy Ghost Conviction makes our guilt clear to us because we see it as God sees it. God chastens those whom He loves.
